Myth and heroes

A myth is a story which explains the origin of humanity/of a society or of a community. Everybody knows this story which represents the human values which unite human beings/a society/ a community .Each society, community has its own myths which give a universal message about human values for example,in America the myth of The American Dream / the myth of the self-made man "from rags to riches" myth. A hero is someone whose story becomes a myth, or a legend because his life is an example/an inspiration/ a model to other people. Heroes help people to live, they give them hope, they make them dream better life. They are role-models/they can help their neighbours or save the world (superheroes). They change society/ or make history .

Theyhave successful careers or change history They have exceptional personalities with specific qualities like courage determination patience, intelligence, talent, charisma, moral or physical strengh. They are sometimes idealized They can be real or fictional, famous or anonymous, perfect or imperfect , anti-heroes, human heroes with imperfections people can identify with. Myths and heroes evolve as society evolves and new myths and new heroes appear

So, the question is how can heroes influence people's careers ?

First, in my first part, I am going to talk about a rags-to-riches life which is a symbol of the American Dream. Then, in my second part, I will show that war heroes could inspire society as well.

First and foremost , one can't deny that society is based on founding myths : The American Dream is a case in point. Indeed it promotes the idea that the personal fulfilment is due to honesty and hard-working.  Let's take the example of a successful woman : Oprah Winfrey.

Oprah Winfrey overcame the obstacles of being an African American girl in the South in the 50s and 60s to achieve her goal.

She started her own show which soon became the Oprah Winfrey talk-show. Her outlet was a tool to broadcast her principles which influenced America. As well as funding her magazine, her website and her own TV-channel, she used her fame to found her charity and financed several houses and schools in South Africa. Hence she is a typical example of a self-made woman.

Oprah Winfrey climbed the social ladder although they had started from the very first rung. Therefore in every respect her career paths inspire the whole America.

As we have previously seen about rags-to-riches this choice of a career path may depend on your background, education, values, personality and ambitions. Now we going to talk about war heroes who could  inspire society as well.

In the second place, finding an interesting job is very important to  Growing up. At first sight , this « dream job » can inspire people to influence our society.

Let us consider the example of Robin Olds. The document intituled Fighter Pilot «  The Memoirs of lengendary Ace Robin Olds » written by Robin Olds speak about a pursuit pilot.
