MYTHS AND HEROES

         

        First of all, let’s explain the notion of myth and the notion of what a hero is: a myth is a popular and legendary story showing values and human ideal through (usually) unreal facts and actions led by a hero. A hero is a brave and courageous person ready to do anything even sacrifice himself to save other people’s life. He can do extraordinary things and he is famous for that. Some cartoons are highlighting heroes standing against the evil like Batman, Superman, Captain America, Spider-man etc.… However, some real heroes exist, and they try to make everything right, to beat the hierarchy in the world, to rescue their people. So now we are asking our self this question:

How can Myths and Heroes influence people’s career?

First, we will try to present a self-made woman: Oprah Winfrey. Oprah was born on January 29, 1954 in Kosciusko in Missouri. She is considerate a hero because of her course. She came from a poor family, was victim to sexual abuse and has become one of the most popular person in the world and the most influential person in America. Moreover she overcame the obstacles of being an African American in USA during the 50’s: what a feat, when we know the difficulties of African people because of the segregation of black people particularly for women. She is now a role model. Her impact on people is not debatable, she has overcome so many hardships and obstacles that she is admired and much respected. Hence her important influence on her fans. She illustrates the myth of the self-made woman and has become a symbol of American Dream for Black people. That’s why she is a hero by the way she has taken control of her life despise all the difficulties she had confronted with. But she is also a hero because by that she encourages and push people to do everything to fulfill their dream.
