Synthèse « Spaces and Exchanges »

This notion deals with either « Spaces » and «Exchanges », we will define them separetely in a first time. « Spaces » reffers here to everything that is a place like cities, countries etc...Secondly, « Exchanges » includes all types of exchanges like economic exchanges, cultures etc.. The main goal of this notion is to unify these two terms. Indeed, our world is built on the exploration of new spaces which is nothing without exchanges. With modernization, moving became very easy and today, a lot of people decide to move. But the question is :

Why do people decide to move ?

Firstly, we are going to talk about opportunities and we need to know that moving didn't only appear in the 21st century. Indeed, in the United States, moving appeared in the pionnering days with the « West » and the « California Gold Rush ». People were looking for wealth and could travel East to West to find gold and begin a new life. Now moving became really easy, modern transports are fast enough to travel West to East or East to West in less than at most a week. Language is not really even a barrier anymore if you want to move to a foreign country : english is everywhere. This is why people thirsty of opportunies decide to move. There is a few examples like getting a new job in a big city or going to the Sillicon Valley thinking to become a very successful entrepreneur in your garage. Stereotypes like the American deam for example are actually a big reason of why people move so much : they think their dreams will always come true. We will see that while people are looking for more and more opportunities, some people decide to move in order to just begin a decent life.

Indeed, on the other hand, people are moving right now because their life conditions are very bad. It's mainly due to dryness, wars... The world is not fair : people get to eat food everyday while some don't so they decide to move either legally or illegally to decent countries. There is for example the Mexican immigrants in the United-States or the European immigration. It's a hard situation : these people need to be legal but they also need to live decently. People don't understand that and this is why racism is growing very fast, mostly in America.

Finally, people decide to move because they can ! They might want to discover new things, new countries, new landcapes, new cultures... For example the Route 66 in America firstly was driven by people transporting goods like farmers but now, it became a symbol of travelling often used in road trips.

To conclude, moving can be very easy for some people but it can become really difficult for others. It still remains one thing : people want to move. They could need a job, want to visit, want to try to live decently, they still move and I think moving is what keeps humans alive : routine is not good at all. But we need to be careful about where we want to live, there might not be as many opportunities as we think and we could get disappointed very quickly.
