Myths and heroes

Well, then let me consider the following notion:myths and heroes

First let me try and give a simple definition of this notion:

A myth is an idea or story that is believed by many people –but that is not true- to explain a practice, or natural occurrence; for example contrary to the popular myth, no monster lives in the Loch Ness in Scotland. A hero is a person who is admired for great acts or fine qualities, and he can either be real (Superman) or fictional

In relation to this notion, the topic of my presentation will be the British heroes/ Characters

Thus we way wonder if: How to characterize the British characters? / What makes them special?

My presentation will fall into 3 parts:

I-Typical and symbolic heroesof the British model

Several heroes are typical and very representative of the British model. For example we saw a picture of Wallace and Gromit who represents a perfect illustration of the British model: “Bad food” (Bacon),tea, a deep love of animals (The queen) or a particularly sense of humor …

Some heroes are the reference of the British culture. So, Sherlock “as remarkable as ever “and he’s the archetype of the private detective. In fact, Holmes has a very good memory to solve mysterious crimes.

Transition: So, many heroes are the perfect illustration of the British model. But some Heroes are very audacious and courageous..

II- Heroes characterized by their braveries and merits exceptional

Heroes can be characterizing by their braveries and merits exceptional. For this purpose, we can notice that Sherlock Holmes has a knack of observation and a great power of deduction.

Other example, Oliver Twist, an audacious orphan, who has a life of hardship, tops all obstacles. He’s very dangerous to say “Please, Sir, I want some more! “ in a strict orphanage at 19th century.

Moreover,Harry Potter is particularly courageous to face his destiny, whereas he knows that he will die.

Transition: But one hero become special  by his actions…

III- Heroes determined by their heroic actions

Several British heroes are characterized by their actions and they are very popular. For illustrate this idea, I will take the example of James Bond.

James bond or 007 is a British spy of the MI6.He prevents terrorist attacks, or often, London is the target.

Moreover, with several adaptations cinematographic, James Bond represents an authentic contemporary myth. In fact, with a lot technology and gadgets, he achieves many physical exploits with great efficiency.

So, James bond is not only a modern hero but also an archetype of the spy

Indeed, in my opinion, these documents are the best examples to illustrate the notion “myths and heroes” given that they show an important part of the British culture.

To conclude I can say

To conclude when we talk about Myths and Heroes we can say most oh heroes are very representative of the British model but they are some heroes was child and orphan …
