Places and forms of power

THE CONTROVERSIAL RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS (2nd amendment) : The american nightmare.

Today I am going to talk about the notion of places and forms of power.

First of all I want to give a definition of every keyword. “Places” could be important buildings or institutions which represent a certain form of power or a symbol of power. The “power” is the ability or official capacity to exercise control ,authority. It can be also a person, a group or a nation having great influence or control over others. Also, there can be good or bad powers and in this notion there is a division between people who have power and people who suffer of the power. To illustrate the notion we talked about the controversial right to bear arms in the USA. SO, we can wonder if arms are a danger or if they are necessary for Americans.

First of all, I am going to present the subject.

The right to bear arms comes from the 2nd amendment. This amendment consists of just one sentence : « A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed ». It was uniformly understood as not placing any limits on either federal or state authority to vote gun control legislation.

Secondly, I am going to talk about the danger of the arms.

each american mass shooting in recent history has been followed by calls for more gun control laws. Today, more and more americans want a control or a restriction of the right to bear arms. The widespread avaibility of guns has led to tragic mass shootings. Shootings will continue to be a problem if the possesion of guns is not controlled. U.S government can control the sale of firearms without breaking the 2nd amendment. Sadly, a couple of example of the gun violence that we studied is :

the shooting of 9 people of the black community in a church of Charleston in south Carolina by Dylan roof. He had received as a birthday present for his 21 years a 45 calibre gun with which he killed these people.

The attack of a primary school by Adam Lanza where a professor and 26 children were killed by a crazy man, in Sandy Hook, Connecticut in 2012. This school shooting is the third by the number of victims in the United States, after the shooting at Virginia Tech University in 2007 that killed 32 people, and the bombing of the Bath Consolidated School, which killed 46 people in 1927.

Thirdly, I am going to present the advantages of the arms.

In the U.S., 57 millions of adults own an arm, they are mostly low-abiding citizens. They buy gun for protection. To forbid right to bear arms violates the 2nd amendment of the U.S. Constitution. Some say that placing strict regulations on gun ownership will only benefit the falling of criminality and will disarm the potential victims. For instance, we studied the incredible story of a 18 years old mom who was alone at home whith her baby on New Year's Eve. 2 intruders lurked around her tiny home. She killed the first intruder when he walked through the door while he had been stalking her for some time previously. The 2nd potential rapist just surrended. She defended her baby by killing
