I’m going to talk about the notion “spaces and exchange”. I’d like to definite this; so, this notion talks about the symbolism and the relation between all men in societies. To illustrate this, we may talk about the Global cities. That are cities well-known throughout the world, with a highly influential in terms of economy, politics… An international city also have a trade center and a financial center. There is dozen global city in the world (Paris, NY, London, LA). So, does this influential city are a good investment or not? to answer this question, first we are going to talk about how being a global city, next we will define the dark side to be one.

A lot of foreigners want to emigrate in a global city because there is a lot of advantages, like major airports, prestigious universities… after being a global city all of this started to the bottom and increase during the life. To be a global city they need to have several inhabitants, dense population and sprawling outskirts. The perfect example is Singapore, from 1950 to nowadays, it increases very fast. The population increase to 1million to over 3 million, the consequences is there is a lot of languages and nationality. More over in Singapore the landscape change, the fishing neighborhood switch to a skyscraper. In Singapore there is a lot of rules to keep the city clean. Furthermore, Singapore’s economy changes from an economy based on fishing to a tertiary economy base on tourism, finance. Also, in global city, the living condition is excellent because of these cities is develop.

But being a global city had a lot of advantages but there is a lot of drawbacks.

That’s why, the development of this city, engage a lot of cons like pollution, discrimination between culture, inequality. So, these cons cause a lot of difficulty like climate change, and tension. To depict that we can chose the example of London during the Victorian’s age. In fact, London was polluted because of the carbon’s factory. That’s why Londoners’ living was hard, because the smog established a heavy atmosphere, Charles Dicken depict this period in his books. Moreover, global city attracts a lot of population, so the different ethnic cause racism problems.

To conclude to be a global city is a good investment because it is influential, good for the country economy and make a good image all around the world. And to me we can associate the American Dream to the global city, because in America there is a lot of influential city. So, people want to take the many advantage to live in.
