The notion I’m going to deals with is “seat and forms of power”. This notion talk about power. In politics and social science, power is the ability to influence the behaviour of people. In order to live together members of a community accept rules, regulations, laws. This helps to create social cohesion but can also lead to conflicts and tensions. Even when authority seems absolute, there are always counter-powers, which question it, aim at limiting its excesses and resist it. We can take for expemple: the power of the media, financial power, inequalities between black and white (the fight against segregation), the American dream or civil Rights movement and political recognition (Rosa parks).  Through these examples, we will develop an idea.

So, What links and ideologies do Guy Fawkes and Anonymous share?

First of all, we will deal with Document 1, named "How Guy Fawkes Mask Became an Icon of the Protest Movement"

The article of Tom Ought in the independant UK « How Guy Fawkes mask became  an icon of the protest Movement ».He deals with the mask inspired by Guy Flawes during the attack of the "plot of the powder" and his attempt to blow up the Houses of Parliament. And he say that the mask with a curling black eyebrows and mustachios sit on a smiling white face. It became the symbol of the group Anonymous (is the name of a group of activists, forming a vitual community, acting in a unidentified way and manisfesting mainly on the Internet, but also by punctual actions in the street.). The author says that this idea to take the face of this guys is because he was a person who fought against a governement and Guy wont with his group to kill the King James. Which is reflected in the fact that this icon in the british history and a symbol of anarchy and liberation from british government. This guy is so popular and the idea by the hackers group to take his face is very good because their ideology are the same.

Moreover, today this group and the mask are very famous thanks to for exemple the Alan Moore’s V for Vendetta comic book.

What I am getting at is that The Anonymous obtain this renown thanks to the icon Guy Fawkes because they want a world with more values of democracy and liberties in countries were there’s strict politics and not a lot of liberties for the population.

So, Guy Fawkes was a important man in history and him and Anonymous want the same impact in the world because they have the same desire : fight against politics or manipulation of media, societies or institutions.

The press article of the guardian uk in december 2015 «  Anonymous :behind the masks of the cyber insurgents » translated that we asking us about how did they do their actions, how they organize them and what they really do. First, For exemple, they played with the media like when the hacked into the american network PBS because they aired a critical documentary about a cyber militant ,and they decided to give out a fake information about Tupac Shakur or during the Arab Spring members of the group hacked and defaced Tunisian and Egyptian government sites and one hacker allegedly wrote a webscript that enabled activists to circumvent government snooping. So, we can see that they are professionals of manipulation of the web
