Introduction :

Hello, the notion i have chosen is Myths and heroes. So I am going to talk about the notion of Myths and Heroes. First of all I would like to give a definition of this notion : A myth can be defined as a story about gods or heroes, it can be a popular belief or a tradition or a false notion. A hero can be a mythological figure, a person who is admired for his or her achievements, a superhero or maybe a role model or an icon.

When studying documents about this notion we may wonder if all sports stars are heroes and how them became heroes.

In order to answers that question, I will focus on sportd stars wha are heroes. Then we will highlight disabled athletes who inspire people. Finally, we are to talk about fallen heroes who beacame sports anti-heroes.

Developpement :

In our-day world sportsmen stars can be defined as heroes. First of all an athlete to be consired as a heroe it must be a star. To become a star a sportsman must do achievements, like a lot of victories, he must win medals and cup or break records. Indeed, after that he becomes publicized, so he acquires money and recognition. In that way, he become a star. Once become a star he can then be a hero. Actually, he got some influence so he can inspire some people and push them to practice sport. Let's take the example of Michael Jordan. He holds ten titles for his points scored. he brokes records for the highest average points scored per game in the regular season. In addition he also has two Olympic champion titles with the United States and many other achievements. That’s why Michael Jordan is considered the greatest basketball player of all time. Indeed, he is considered one of the greatest champions of all time, all sports combined, and has helped to popularize basketball and NBA internationally throughout the world. Thanks to his achievements and because he was a star, Michael Jordan became a hero.

Otherwise some athletes become heroes by their political or social comitment. In fact they can coney a message through sport. The message can inspire people to act for humanity or for well-defined causes. For example John Carlos and Tommie Smith, who were runnig athletes, convey a message on the podium for the black men’s cause in USA.
