CHARLES QUESTIONS AS A CLIENT SEEKING SUPPORT FROM CONSULTANT:
1- Charles Question: 1. If you found a contradiction between your students' interests vs. their current skills? That is the specific field of jobs, but their actual skills are different? In this case, is this assessment tool useful for working with my student?
Natalie answer: I will base my answers on the reports you have provided CVS + PSQ assessments.
For this question, I do find a small discrepancy between the students' interests vs. their current skills. Skills are based off of what a student may be good at, but not interested in. Meaning someone can be interested in Mathematics but it does not necessarily mean that they will be skilled in math and become a mathematician. Interests can also be influenced by parents and or family, and biopsychosocial aspects of the individual. These aspects should then be considered and taken into account. So my answer is Yes I do find a slight discrepancy in the interests vs. The current skills of a student. I still do think the assessment tool is useful, I would not fully eliminate it but I would explain it as a report that provides clarification, maybe a path of the person's interests but not limited to the answers in the assessment.
2-Charles Question: 2. Do you think that this scale is still appropriate to guide my students in finding their future career specializations/ academic life? Or that I should, carefully, use the scale?
Natalie answer: I will base my answers on the reports you have provided CVS + PSQ assessments.
I believe I have slightly answered this in the previous question. I would still use the scale but explain it as a guide report, to be used for guidance but not limiting the students' interests or skills. That they can still explore different interests/ skills if they choose to do so. Therefore, the student would don’t feel limited to follow the guidance provided in the report. I would simply perceive it as guidance based on their current biopsychosocial factors but not limited to. It is a good start to guide them in potentially choosing their college program or helping them decide between two majors if they find themselves struggling with decision making. I would potentially combine it with the Career Belief Inventory (CBI) to potentially provide more insight about their interests, skills and beliefs that can guide them even more in their future endeavours.
3- Charles Question: 3. My question is about the adjustment of the JVIS tool to the collectivist society. That is, how to assess students' interests without considering also the influence of their parents/family's interests on that of the students.
Natalie answer: This is an interesting question that we can debate however I do not have your client's JVIS report so I do not see what I will be helping you with. But for general knowledge, it would be very helpful to get to know our clients needs, wants and goals and be able to understand what they desire. Questions such as family background, ethnicity, upbringing, age, gender, sexual orientation; similar to an intake session in therapy we would want to build rapport with the client to better understand if they align with possible influence from family/parents interest of if this is not even a concern or theirs. Your question is very interesting but before getting into it, I strongly suggest to identify if this is even a concern for the client or if the client being assessed does not feel pressured by external factors.

NATALIE SECTION:
Prior to asking you my questions, I would like to provide a little bit of background information that can be helpful and give more understanding about me and potentially help with the assignment. I am a 31 y.o mother of 1 boy and the next coming in May 2022. I am Egyptian Catholic. I come from an immigrant family who was very wealthy and had to file for bankruptcy after immigrating to Canada due to wrong business moves. My parents started from scratch, I believe this is important because it shaped the environment in the household. My parents did not believe in failure, school was mandatory, success wasn’t but becoming somebody and making something out of myself (whatever field I choose was up to me) was mandatory in the household I grew up in. My sister got really sick when I was 4 y.o and we thought we would lose her (she is 3 yrs older). I believe this shaped my helping, caring, empathic side as the following 9 yrs (4 y.o to 13 y.o) I was in and out of hospitals, feeding my sister, caring for her and ultimately trying to keep her alive (she had an autoimmune disease + organ inflammation that made her severally /dangerously anorexic). My father is a hard worker, no days off, barely any vacation and my mother is the religious woman that taught us to help one another and to help without expecting anything in return. Hence why I love being a Mental Health therapist and want to become a licensed psychologist. My biopsychosocial factors did shape who I am today; but they do not define it. Funny enough all my assessments score low in artistic skills, I can recall my parents saying we couldn’t afford artistic activities (e.g. music/pottery/singing/dancing), as those were way more expensive than just signing me up for soccer, which I still love the sport today. I have done a few assessments throughout my studies and I must say my results always come out quite similar which is comforting I suppose. I hope this helps. (P.S you have my consent to include this in your paper if you want to).
