Internship report My name is Danielle CHARLES, I am 20. I live in Fort-de-France. I like surfing on the net, listening to music, going out with my friends. In the future I would like to continue my studies and prepare a bachelors degree in marketing or communication. I am preparing a higher national certificate as a managerial assistant. I am a full time student. I did my training program at WAB Assurances, an insurance company for cars, boat, firms and people, which is located in Lamentin near the airport. I did it during all my higher national certificate formation, that is to say during two years. I started my first training period in this company in December 2009. My last was February 2010 (all the month). I had 3 periods of training session. Sometimes I worked with my tutor, but most of the time, I worked on my own, in my office. I was in charge of: Filling: I file folders which were cancelled in a box after that I codified them in state of contract cancelled on the ERP. Client account: I verified if all documents of insurance contract are signed by the customer or the responsible, that these documents had been here present, I verified if they were saved into the ERP, after I filed them in closet. Reminders: when an insured had to give us a missing document such as test car (gray card), driving license (for people who give us a temporary driving license), or return signed contract (for people who do their request of insurance by email), I send him a letter reminding missing document. These reminders could be made by telephone too. Reception of customers: I receive physically customers, and I did telephonic reception. Opening and sorting of mails according to the specificities of each (accounting, claims service, commercial service and administration service) Doing missions like audit, stocktaking Sometimes I help my colleague to do some things as photocopy, fax, and file search. Since the company headquarters is based in Guadeloupe, we were often in communication with them for some tasks such as request of disclosure statement, repayment of a customer. Also, when my colleagues had meetings, I stand in for them. As regards my schedule, I worked from 8am to 5pm. I used software named TOPASE (an Enterprise Resource Planning) in order to create client account, to change some characteristics on the insured (name, address, insurance option, etc.), to file or to find folders; and different sites such as Moral W9 and April on whom we worked (partners sites): for example, we can see the evolution of a disaster for the first (if an expert had been examined the car, if a car mechanic had done repairs) and we can do an insurance contract (even life, health or school insurance) for the second . I used printers, faxes and phones too. I had no difficulty mastering the new software they used. During my training session, I analyzed a problem of organization for some folders that I verified, sorted and filed, putting them in boxes or in a closet. I can’t say that I changed their way of working but I helped them to find some of their folders. Nevertheless, they have accepted my suggestions concerning the waste of paper. For myself, this work experience gave me first-hand knowledge of life in insurance company. In fact, I expected to learn more about this business, handling the accounts, the offers for the customers, etc. During it, I developed qualities like organization, autonomy, making contacts, etc. What I liked was the environment, the relationship
