I'm going to speak about a city of Manchester .

Manchester is a city in the United Kingdom, it has city status since 1853 and in 2008 about 500 000 inhabitants.

Manchester is located 260 km north-west London, on the east bank of the River Irwell. The city is bordered to the south by the Cheshire Plain and the north and east by the Pennines mountain range. . Manchester is the first city in the world to have been industrialized, and has played an important role during the Industrial Revolution. The economy of the city has been facing the tertiary sector, and it is now an important financial center.

Manchester is a culturally important city, which is home to many theaters, museums and concert halls. The city has seen in the 1980s the emergence of various groups around the indie rock club The Haçienda, which will become very famous later and are grouped under the "Madchester". It has a well developed with many bars and clubs night economy. The architecture of the city is marked by the omnipresence of red bricks. It mixes historic buildings, including the gothic cathedral, a very strong Victorian architecture, remnants of the industrial period and a much more contemporary architecture with high skyscrapers. Manchester is the third most visited city by foreigners in the United Kingdom.

Manchester is also an important university town with its two universities, the University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University who, with the Royal Northern College of Music, include more than 70,000 students.

The city hosted the 2002 Commonwealth Games. It also stands in the sports world by two teams of Premier League football, Manchester United and Manchester City.
