In this text, I shall write about something or someone, in this case someone, who is unforgettable to me. Now here, I could say that my parents are the most unforgettable people in my life. They are, hugely unforgettable, but in a different way than the person that I will really write about, Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima, commonly known as Ronaldo.

Firstly, Ronaldo was born on September 18 1976 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He’s widely considered to be the greatest striker in the history of the modern game, and in the history of football. Ronaldo was one of the most prolific scorers in the world in the late 1990s and the early 2000s. He won his first Ballon d'Or as the European Footballer of the Year in 1997 at only 21 years old and again won the award in 2002 (26 years old). Additionally, he is one of only two men to have won the FIFA Player of the Year award three times (twice in a row), along with one of his best friends French footballer Zinedine Zidane.

In 2007, he was named one of the best starting eleven of all-time by France Football and was named to the FIFA 100, a list of the greatest footballers compiled by fellow countryman Pelé. In 2010, he was voted Goal.com's "Player of the Decade" in an online poll, gathering 43.63% of all votes and was also included as centre forward in the "Team of the Decade." On 23 February 2010, Ronaldo announced that he will retire after the 2011 season, signing a two-year contract extension with the Corinthians (Brazilian club team). He is widely considered by experts and fans as one of the greatest players of all time.

Ronaldo has played for Brazil in 97 international matches, amassing 62 goals. He was a part of the Brazilian squad that won the 1994 and 2002 World Cups. Ronaldo was also the youngest player ever to participate in a World Cup in 1990. During the 2006 FIFA World Cup, Ronaldo became the highest goal scorer in the history of the World Cup with his fifteenth goal, surpassing the previous record of 14. He is also the only player to have won the World Cup Golden Ball and Golden Shoe in separate tournaments. Having suffered a string of serious injuries throughout his career, Ronaldo retired on 14 February 2011, citing pain and hypothyroidism as the reasons for his premature retirement that was one of the saddest days of my life. Hypothyroidism is when overactive tissue within the thyroid gland causing an overproduction of thyroid hormones which is the main cause of him getting a bit fatter. Ronaldo has also played for the world’s biggest clubs such as, PSV Eindhoven, Real Madrid, A.C. Milan, Inter Milan, and F.C. Barcelona. He has collected over 450 goals in less than 620 games. If all that is not unforgettable, I don’t know what is. He has inspired me to play soccer, the first time I saw him was in the 2002 World Cup. He was just amazing. With a career like his, he has inspired hundreds of thousands of people and gave joy to millions. All this to say why Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima is unforgettable to me.
