PLACES AND FORMS OF POWER

Can we ever escape from society and what are the dangers if we do?

Today, I will present you the notion of PLACES AND FORMS OF POWER, first of all, I would like to give you a quick definition of it. In politics and social science, power is the ability to influence the behaviour of people. In order to live together members of a community accept rules, regulations, laws. This helps to create social cohesion but can also lead to conflicts and tensions. Even when authority seems absolute, there are always counter-powers which question it, aim at limiting its excesses and resist it. To illustrate this notion, I will talk about the dependence at the society with the problematic: Can we ever escape from society and what are the dangers if we do?

In a first part we will see that we are not dependent of our society as much as we think and then we will see the limit of living in an archaic society.

Nowadays, humans are overconnected and we are living in a consumer society. When we looked around us, we see shops everywhere and even online. Our society persuade us to buy everything everywhere, she wants us to be dependent, but what if we don't want to? What if I want to be independent of her? Today, a lot of community are creating to escape of our society like Uli Alto in France where we lived without money, in community and peacefully. In fact, we don't need all of that, why do we have to buy electricity when you have the sunlight or the fire which are more natural and ecologic, why do we have to buy all the stuff we have today in our house, most of it is useless and it is just decoration, it is here but it is not worthy. We think we are dependent to new technology, electricity, our comfort but we are not. To illustrate these arguments, I will relate you the story of a man: Chris McCandless who doesn't want to be dependent of his society so just after he was graduated, he goes in a road trip in Alaska and left everything behind him. The fact is that Chris was alone and even alone he survived in this wild country during a long period of time. A human is a survivor, he is made to survive in the nature, for example, all of our ancestors were survived without all the inventions we have today, they knew the nature more than anyone, but today we lost that knowledge. When we have a simple disease, most of us will go to the doctor and take some drugs when we could have taken simple plants like basil, cayenne or Cilantro that we found everywhere. Traditional medicine is endangered, we don't know how to live in and with the nature anymore, but we can relearn it. Some of us, still live in symbiosis with the nature like the Amazonian tribes or the African tribes which live outside our society and persist in time, so they are the proof that we can live outside this consumer society.

But what are the dangers if we lived in this type of micro-society?

Of course, live outside the society implied some regressions like the hygiene, they don't have soap as performant as we have, no washing machine, but also a step back in medicine they don't have drugs anymore, they don't have hospital, surgery or any medical system which would have been performant in case of serious disease or major epidemic like
