Places and forms of power

INTRODUCTION

Présentation : I have chosen the notion places and forms of power. I will try to link the notion places and forms of power with India.

Enonciation de la problematique : My question is why can we say that India is a land of contrast ?

Annonce du plan : First, I will talk about men and women in India, Secondly, I will explain the constrast of rich versus poor in Inda.

DEVELOPPEMENT

First part

  1. Many contrast exist between men and women in Inda. We have seen in class a cartoon about the husband sitting in a sofa driking a cup of coffee during the wife is in the kitchen the dishes and cooking. This cartoon is the caricature of the society in Inda. I think men and women should be equal so that the country progresses.

  1. In class we worked on a video that talks about the abortion of women they have girl.Women prefer to have a boy because he can look after take care of the family business, look after the parents. Boys are financially more attractive than girls. I find it sad because girls have their place in the world.

TRANSITION : After dealing with men and women in India, let's have a look at the contrast of rich versus poor in India.

Second part

  1. We have seen in class a cartoon about a chlid begging for money in the middle of road during a trafic jam. He looks very skinny, he doesn't have a shirt, he is only wearing a Bermuda. The message is sarcastic because rich and poor people are living next to each over.
  2. In Inda they are caste system. It is a system of social stratification. People are divided into fives groups. When someone is born into a class, it is impossible to change it. It is also impossible to intermarry. The main problem is that this system prevents people of the lower castes from climbing the social ladder

CONCLUSION

To include, I can say that India is a land of contrast because there is a lot inequalities that affects the country as we have seen between men and women or the rich and the poor.
