The idea of progress

I am going talk about the idea of progress

First of all I would like to give a definition of this notion:   The idea of progress can be defined as an improvement, a development or a change in a technical or social advance which contributes to making the world a better place.

This year in class we studied several documents about the idea of progress and in particular the progress in technology and in genetics and medicine

In order to illustrate this notion I chose to start with the progress in technology and the progress in genetics and medicine then i will speak on the limits of the progress finally i will try to answer to the problem.

What about living without technology ?

Technological progress :

It is fair to say that every aspect of our lives is affected by technology. In class we have had four pictures wich talk about the evolution of new technologies today . For example we have seen a cars you don't need to drive your car anymore (google cars) it's a new system cars drive alone is very interessent   for people disabilities they can move with cars but cars without driver can replace people and the job of much people   . Then  we have seen too a japanese woman robot, this robot is looks like a clone of a real human it's very scary because the robots can replace humans in much companies robots replace humans and the humans lose their jobs . Finally , i want to talk about a memorable progress in technology a bionic limbs  I think is amazing for persons lose a limb(hand , a leg ) in accident , they can live likes a person with a real limbs .

Progress In Genetics and Medicine :

-surgeries (medical operations ) to recreate a missing part , to rebuild a face (ex : an ear = oreille )

  • problem : genetic modifications of babies .
  • Parents can now choose the sex, eyes color of their babies
  • illegal action in some countries
  • in the end ; everyone will look the same
  • perfection .

The limits :

limits in technological and medical progress

ex : robots can replace humans in everyday life , tasks .

Saviour babies = to have a baby just to save the first one who is ill = ethical problem

To answer this question I will present one document a movie -  INTO THE WILD   :
