        Writing an essay:

Firstly, the key word “intellectual” makes us think about the words “skills”,  ”knowledge”, ”high education”. Secondly, “Promised land”, is the second key word and it leads us to say that people will find opportunity and will adopt a better lifestyle. Furthermore, we can link it with the concept of “American dream”. Thirdly, the key word “immigrant” gives the idea of mobility, in the case of brain drain; immigrants contribute to economic growth and development.

We would like to know if immigrants still see the US as a land of opportunities that will help them be successful.

The US is a land of opportunities…

To begin with, the US is a promised land for skilled people because a lot of opportunities are offered to them so they can succeed in life. Indeed, America is the cradle of scientific and technological innovation and the level of research is one of the highest in the world. By this, we can assume that engineering is upgrading too. Moreover, starting a business is uncomplicated because the barrier to entry to becoming an entrepreneur is literally the lowest it's ever been right now. Universities and colleges one of the most recognized in the world. The California institute of technology is a top-World ranked college that focuses highly on science and engineering. Harvard University is the oldest and one of the best and recognized universities in the world. This huge land of opportunities make people from other countries want to come and profit from the occasion to have a better life style.

…Even for immigrants

The “American dream” is an ideal that everyone wants to reach all over the world. Indeed, talented and skilled people with knowledge leave their home country in order to find better opportunities in the US. This emigration is called “brain drain”. Many factors pushed them to go like the absence of research facilities, employment discrimination and economic underdevelopment. However, we can assume that the Us is a promised land thanks to the pull factors that attracted them like the fact that the host country is way more open-minded, more inclusive, that presents a career development and opportunity. In addition to this, higher paying jobs, better quality of life and relatively stable political environment bought skilled professionals from India, Russia, China and a few OEDC including Canada, the UK and Germany. The presence of foreign skilled workers does benefit to the host country too: they contribute to economic growth and to the improvement of research and entrepreneurship. Nevertheless, a considerable number of immigrants go back to their home country.

As far as I am concerned, I think that the US is, indeed, a promised land for talented people that come from other countries. They find their happiness there and improve their skills. The US should be more welcoming for the reason that they bring their knowledge and make the economy grow.
