Nowadays, getting around is very important, so we need fast, ecological means of transportation that evolve with the times. London is an innovative and pioneer capital in many fields and wants to invent the means of transport of the future. The corpus deals with the notion of the transport innovation in the UK thanks to 1 report, 1 article and 1 picture from Government office for science, ComputerWorld and the daily mail. We will wonder how London is a pioneer and innovator in transport. As a starting point we shall see why these progresses are so important, then we will examine what kind of transport can be invented, then we will focus on how technology will enable it and why London is the right city to expand this field.

Getting around has always been an important preoccupation, but nowadays mobility is even more important in everyday life. As Sir Patrick Vallance says in Document 1 " Transport is more than just travel, it connects people, places and shapes the way we live.” Without transportation we would not have been able to discover all the cultures that exist, meet new people or choose a place to live. Transportation also allows us to do jobs far from home that would not have been possible otherwise. They allow us every day to go to our work place and to see our relatives. That's why it would be a good idea to make our travel easier, especially by innovating faster, less polluting, and easier to access transportation. It is also very important in the economy of countries as stated in document 1, it creates work and wealth.

Today, to move around a city, the means are limited, there is the car or public transport. That's why cities, and especially London, are trying to offer new alternatives to people to get around more easily. According to document 2, there is for example the dock less bike-sharing, it is a device to rent bikes, there is also the car-pooling, it is when several people have the same trip to make, they share a car, finally, there is peer-to-peer car sharing, which means renting your car when you are not using it. These are all more ecological and less expensive ways to get around.

Transport is a main subject to develop and United-kingdom which is a world leading expertise and knowledge, wants to conduct research and innovate new transport. London has expertise and knowledge in innovation, which is why they are taking on the great challenge of mobility. In document 1, we are told that “The UK is well placed to capitalize on the exciting opportunities offered by transport technologies and innovation which will benefit the economy, society and the citizen.” London is an innovative capital that likes to take on challenges. London has already taken the fold in the 19th and 20th century. Like Patrick sir vallance said “The UK was a pioneer of transport technologies throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, and we can be at the forefront of the next transport revolution.” This is another reason why London is the most appropriate place for this progress. We have also seen in the document 2 that peer-to-peer car sharing is developing and for this transport to work we need new cars that can be unlocked with a smartphone. The new technologies will be essential at this point. In document 3 we are presented with a new type of train that is 3 times faster than the existing bullet trains. The invention of this train is based on a new technology made of powerful electromagnets. This technology is very new and could help to improve the transport.
