  1.  Ibrahim Cisse is a “dynamic and confident” child who is in sixth grade in East Harlem. He moved from the Ivory Coast to East Harlem when he was eight years old. He is a determined child who does not back down from anything. Furthermore, he is passionate about soccer.                                                                                                                   When he moved from the Ivory Coast to East Harlem, he encountered some difficulties. First of all, he only spoke fluent English and didn't know anyone. He found himself in a place he did not know with people he did not know too. However, these difficulties did not stop him since he very quickly adapted to these cultural differences.

  1. The afterschool sports program helped him. Indeed, thanks to this program, he was able to experience his passion for soccer, met new people with whom he shares the same hobby, soccer. His city's program offered him "a safe place to meet and play and offers academic tutoring and mentoring opportunities."

  1. After his move, when he had just arrived, he was a simple "isolated outsider" without friends. He is now an influential person, a “peer mentor”, a “community ambassador” who still plays soccer and who has adapted to the differences of community and culture. He also learnt a lot from these new people and grew in maturity.
  1. Project Play helps all children like Ibrahim whether it is for school with tutoring, for sports by providing safe places to practice them or even to meet new people and make relationship. They want young people to have “a platform for their voices to be heard as part of the decision-making process”.
