The Association for Mediation and School Guidance Assistance (AMAOS) has the following missions: family, social, administrative and school mediation, assistance with information on school and vocational guidance, French language learning, health and citizenship education, as well as the organisation of sports, leisure and cultural activities for children, adolescents, young people and adults. Its activities take place mainly in the Pissevin-Valdegour districts and reach a diverse public waiting for these missions.

These neighbourhoods are isolated from society and are in growing request, particularly and mainly in terms of education and culture. This is what Mrs. Zidi EL Rhess (Founder, president of the association AMAOS, since 2007 until today) wanted to target by her mobilization, her steps and her action by creating an association in order to act on precise objectives:

The equality of opportunities.

Access to knowledge for all.

Academic and educational success.

Women's autonomy and economic independence.

Professional and social integration.

Then we have the means of the association :

Volunteers, facilitators, employees (a mediator for social links and access to rights, a mediator for social and professional integration, a FONJEP coordinator, an apprentice as a management assistant) and also

volunteers in civic service,

and trainees from a wide range of backgrounds.

Premises and equipment :

Since its creation, the association has had premises at the bottom of the CIO (Centre d'information et d'orientation scolaire). Indeed, the AMAOS association was linked to the IOC. This association was forced to leave the premises because the building was going to be destroyed. The AMAOS association must also leave the premises. However, in 2010, Habitat du Gard granted them additional premises in February 2020, place Watteau. They have therefore moved into these premises.

in order to be able to do a maximum of actions, AMAOS has other premises in other structures such as:

- The Espace Vergnole

- The Condorcet secondary school :

  • The town's facilities, notably the Marcel Rouvière stadium, the ice rink, the Henri Wallon gymnasium and the Saint-Césaire playground.

The partners :

AMAOS is in partnership with many structures such as the caf, the MDA, the CODES 30, the family planning ect ...

financers :

The CAF (Caisse d'Allocation Familiale), the General Council and the Nîmes City Council are the main funders of the AMAOS association's actions.

Actions:

the main actions of the association are :

- Workshops for learning the French language.

- Educational support.

- Workshops for cultural discoveries and artistic initiations.

- Workshops for sewing, embroidery, knitting...

- Exchanges and debates.

2/ my experience in this structure

- project in line with a public need

As part of my higher national certificate on Home Economics, Family and Consumer Sciences training, the internship allows me to carry out a project in connection with a health or social need of the population.

After many interviews and documentary research, I decided to focus my project on misinformation about healthy food and eating behaviour for the association's users from the priority district. Indeed, the users of the association Amaos come from difficult neighbourhoods where precariousness is a scourge. Most of these users have financial difficulties in obtaining healthy food for three meals a day. They are victims of what is known as "food insecurity". This means restricted, inadequate or insecure access to healthy and nutritious products, which results in negative eating behaviour.

The beneficiaries of this project will be the women of the AMAOS association, who are between 30 and 60 years old, and their families. The majority of this group is from the priority district of Pissevin. Economic, linguistic and cultural factors influence their eating behaviour and their access to information.

After having made a pre-diagnosis and a pre-survey that led me to this need, I conducted numerous interviews with professionals to get more information on the characteristics of the public. This led me to carry out a simple questionnaire aimed at women users of the association. However, my project took a different turn after the visit of my teacher. He advised me to concentrate on the sweet food that is present in most of the women I interviewed.
