spaces and exchanges

I'm going to talk about the notion of spaces and exchanges. First of all I would like to give a definition of exhange. Exchanges can be defined by the circulation of people and different things in the world. The exchanges can appear on many forms: people, trad, information When we speak about it, we think at first of the immigration. In the first time, I am going to speak about the immigration. And, finally, I am going to speak on the American dream.

In my first part, I have chosen to speak about the immigration in the United States. It(he,she) came near great to immigrate in the United States in order to flee of his(her, your) natal land and to begin a new life. On having come in the country, which they were received then in Ellis Island.

Ellis Island is an island placed in the river mouth of the river Hudson in New York, to less than one kilometre to the north of the island of the freedom, with the statue of the Freedom.

Ellis Island it is an island next to New York. It was the principal entry of the immigrants who come to The United States.

Nevertheless, after a long and difficult trip, some immigrants were sent of return to his(her, your) countries for diverse reasons, such as problems of health, a criminal past.

Firstly, we studied a document which is entitled “ELLIS ISLAND” (THE GODFATHER)

The scene takes place in the hearbour of New York, in Ellis Island at the end of the 19th century. At the beginning, we can see immigrants on the deck of a ship. They are looking at the Statue of Liberty, they don't seem to be rich.

They might have left their country because there was a dictatorship. The might have been a civil war in their home country or food storage. They might have wanted to fulfil a professional dream. They might have been jobless / unemployed in their country.

When they arrived the first thing they saw was the statue of liberty symbol of hope and freesom but when they arrived in Ellis Island they were treated like cattle.

When the immigrants arrived in Ellis Island, they were examined by doctors. If the test result were ok, they could settle in the USA but if the results were not ok the immigrants were put in quarantine.

When he arrived in Ellis Island, the immigrants were probably disapointed because they had expected that things would be better in the USA.

So many immigrants left his(her, your) country to live through a better life in the USA, believing in the American dream.

All of these people immigrated for different reasons In particular because of the unemployment, of the poverty and of the various wars and oppressions. They dreamed about a better life, they want to find weel-paid job and practise there religons freely. All of These immigrants are peoples who try to avoid the problems of their countries

In my second part, I have decided to speak on the American dream. The American dream is symbolized by the material success that it(he,she) evokes big, the house cleans, the happiness of the family and the prosperity.

In the first document, we might see that the people are integrated
