Myths evoke the human condition as such. Mythical stories were first transmitted orally and often embodied by heroes, a place or community. Examining myths is getting into heroes and legends that found a collective identity. The hero may be a fictional or real human being who highlighted the tradition, history" and everyday life. Why do we need heros? They help us have a better life through fiction and reality. We will first deal with fictional heroes then real heroes.

In the greek mythology , heroes achieve extraordinary actions. They always succeed most of the time their success is immediate. And they are immortal, they never die. Modern fiction superheroes like superman or spiderman for instance, are the same.

They fight against the baddies (crime, corruption, violence). They set am example. But in both cases, they are not real people.

On the contrary, real heroes are men or women who deserve our admiration. They have no super powers. Most of the time they only have courage and intelligence. They sometimes have to resist and fight. For years to become famous as heroes of our time. Generally, they change things, open new ways, make life better for the other.

We studied L & C expedition: by the end of the 18th century there were 13 British colonies in America. then there was a war. independence war, because the British Americans didn't want to belong to the British kingdom anymore. july 4th 1776 was independence day. In 1787 the founding father wrote the American constitution. The L&C expedition started at the beginning of the 20 century. This opened new perspective and Thomas Jefferson the president, commissioned L&C to create the corps of discovery to start the as conquest of the west. A big part of the territory was the wilderness but still there were Indian tribes and trappers in some parts of the territory

Likewise we watched “Invictus”, it's the story of Nelson MANDELA, he was a great man who fought tooth and nail to reconciliation between blacks and whites, for this he was sentenced to 27 years imprisonment. He died on December 5th 2013. He was born in July 1918, he became president in the 90's in 1994 until 1999. He joined the NAC (national African Congress) in 1944. The white minority ruled the country. So the NAC sought against this principle. N.M became a lawyer. Apartheid started in 1948 (it's based on racial segregation) places for the whites, places for the blacks (township). This film shows us it's course in society and what it has done for the population.

I choose those documents because i think they represents the notion, indeed,we live in an advanced society, more opened and more secured even if they have few resources and are sometimes despised. They make us improve our lives and to me, that's a heroes job, to make things change.
