I am going to talk about the idea of progress……..

First of all I would like to give a definition of this notion:  The idea of progress can be defined as an improvement, a development or a change – a technical, scientific or social advance which contributes to making the world a better place. This year in class we studied several documents about the idea of progress and in order to illustrate this notion I have chosen to talk about the artificial intelligence.  ……and attempt to answer the question: to what extent does the artificial intelligence have an impact on our daily lives?  First of all, we will study the positive aspects of the artificial intelligence. Secondly, we will present the negative aspects of the artificial intelligence and finally, we will see to what extent the artificial intelligence will be judged as something positive and in which case it will be necessary to limit it.

I/ The artificial intelligence is a good thing, it will allow us humans to progress. Indeed it has infinite potential and it has many advantages such as:

a)Advantages in travelling:

Indeed, today, there are already vehicles that can move alone with cameras and sensors distributed on them.

→ For example we have studied a document that deals with that question. A self-driving car is a vehicle with an artificial intelligence which is able to drive on its own. The driver less cars are safer than normal cars, given that they were invented to reduce the number of accidents.

→ I think that autonomous cars would be good things because they will bring people closer together. indeed it could help some people to move better, like old people and visually impaired people. so it could be interesting to link it also to the concept of spaces and exchanges.

b)The idea of artificial intelligence refers to an idea of progress:

As the artificial intelligence evolves, it will learn new things faster than us.  That’s why, by confronting it we will be able to learn also more quickly and evolve significantly.

→ In particular, we have studied a document that presents an artificial intelligence which is able to analyze a video game and providing to the players I quote: “tips on how to improve your game play based on your individual strengths, weaknesses and play style.” This case is very interesting because it shows that the machine has an extraordinary sense of adaptation.

II/

Artificial intelligence, however, has bad aspects. Like the possible presence of error in the programming of a robot or the cost too expensive of the development of these artificial intelligence. Moreover, getting the latest innovations in artificial intelligence is often very expensive. everyone does not have the same access to these innovations. Furthermore, in companies in particular, the artificial intelligence and new mechanized robots lead to job cuts. Indeed, the man is gradually replaced by robots which increases the already high unemployment rate. From a more human point of view, we must see the disadvantages that the IA represents on social ties.

→ For example: In the famous cartoon Wall-E, director Andrew Stanton shows an addiction to robots. Men are served and do not do anything on their own. people only communicate through technologies, computers, there is no human sharing. This is also the case in video games because now, the players have the opportunity to play in a network.

In the first part we saw that artificial intelligence could bring humans together, but here we see that this is not always the case.

→ → to go a little further we can also observe that artificial intelligence has an illusory dimension. This is the case in the document we studied on the Black Mirror series, indeed, the imitation of reality has gone so far that we can no longer distinguish the true from the false. It's something that I think can be very dangerous
