I’m going to present you this notion. This notion is “the Idea of progress”. Let me define that what is a progress. A progress is a movement toward a goal or to a further or higher stage, to get better and the idea of progress basically consists in believing that the world can become better in terms of art, science, technology, liberty, and quality of life. So, for present this subject I'll use a problematic: “does progress have only positive effects?” And for and to answer it I will use this plan: my first part will relate to the positive effects of consumerism and shopping habits and my second part will speak about the negative effects of consumerism and shopping habits and finally the conclusion.

I/ The positives effects of consumerism, and shopping habits.

It is a movement aiming at giving to the consumers an active role at the economic and social level. at the economic level, let us take as a model of USA. The country goes well in spite of a fall of the budgets. but thanks to the days like the Black Friday it’s the day after the US holiday of Thanksgiving, regarded as the first day of the Christmas shopping season, on which retailers make many special offers. Which is one day when the stores have the right to sell at a loss, it is during this day that American buys all and anything at defying prices all competition.

But In class us have discovered movement which calls “freegans” they are people which apply a principle similar to vegans, except that the freegans don’t eat solely what is free, to denounce the food wasting. II/ The negatives effects of consumerism, and shopping habits.

The negative consequences of the consumerism are the addicts with shopping, in class we worked on a group, which one can compare to the alcoholics anonymous, but here it is for shopping. Days like the black Friday, or the balances are days which influence the people more to buy all and anything and to spend of the money in useless things. This is why here it is necessary that the spending patterns change.

It there with another fatal consequence, at the time of the Black Friday, in a very known store in the United States, a pregnant woman it is made trample by the crowd is delirious about it, completely hooked, which only thought of buying the least expensive possible. This woman with failed to die, and of this fact it boycotts from now on the Black Friday.

Finally, it is noticed that the progress ace not that positive consequences, moreover some can be dangerous for the consumers.
