First of all I would like to give a definition of «Power». It’s the ability or official capacity to exercise control or authority over others. It can be a person, a group, or a nation having great influence over people. Power is exercised through a variety of relationships sustained or accepted, often internalized. Power affects more than personal relationships; it shapes larger dynamics like social groups, professional organizations, and governments. There can be good or bad types of power. We will especially be interested in the power of the media because if we look at the power of the media for example we can see how much it can influence the public opinion. And help the political power to be heard. Does everyone in the United States approves the firearms legislation? First we will see those which are, then I will move on people who are against, finally I will conclude with the problems caused by weapons.

First, I will explain why some people are for weapons. The second amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America mentions: “well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed”. All the American population is thus authorized legally to possess a weapon, without it’s listed in an administrative file. Moreover, the second organization pro-weapons, gun owners of America, to show a big radicalize in its actions, supported by Ted Nugent, known for his commitment within the GOA. The national rifle association is the most powerful pro-gun lobby, these major donors are the Republicans. They successfully lobbied against the renewal of the semi-automatics weapons ban in 2004.

Now i will move on to my second part. The document I will use to illustrate my points all deal with “Lobby campaigns”. The latter generally target the general population. In fact, their aim is to make people reject to gun culture. For example, the Brady Campaign's « God bless America » poster denounces the fact that although firearms are part of the American heritage, they kill a considerable number of Americans each year. It is in favour of sensible gun-control laws, electing pro-gun-law officials and raising public awareness about gun violence.

Thirdly the problem is that for some persons, it becomes a game. We can speak of "school shooting" become a real phenomenon in USA.  The purpose being to create a genocide in a school then to return the weapon against one. For example a man called Michael Patrick, a tormented boy went into a school and wanted kill everybody. An other example is the Slaughter of Sandy Hook's elementary school: a twentysz-year-old man kills his mother with whom he lived, then kills twenty-six persons among whom twenty children, then commits suicide. This phenomenon thus questions the legality of the carrying of firearms.

To conclude, I would say that the American citizens not need for a weapon to defend itself. It incites to slaughters and other accidents which could be avoided. It would be rather for the justice to carry out the duty and to make the order reign. Stricter laws to the carrying of weapons would be necessary.
