INTRO: First im going to define this notion

-An exchange is the act of  giving or receiving something in substitution for something else. In today’s modern-day world these exchanges can take several forms:  economic – work exchanges, exchange of goods, trading across borders,  cultural – exchange of ideas, information, education,  movement of people – immigration, student exchanges, gap years…  Our modern-day world is changing quickly and seems to be a smaller place due to improvements in technology and communication. Information exchange has become easier thanks to the internet and international trade has enabled us to expand our markets for goods and services that might not have been available to us.  These different cultural, economic, sociological and language interactions have transformed and characterised our modern-day world – sometimes for better, sometimes for worse.

In relation to this notion , my presentation will deal with this question :

PB: will we ever live underground ?

Urban land is expected to become an increasingly limited ressource . Due to space constraints, and global cities becoming bigger. we can’t build up or out but what about down ?

In order to illustrate this notion , first ill talk about the new underground city plans for Amsterdam then an audio about the London smug and finally an article off the BBC “will we ever live in underground homes ?”

Thanks to these documents we will be able to respond to the previous question. In a way we will first see how cities are trying to stay a step ahead of space problems .Then we will discover why it is maybe for a question of air pollution that we could decide to live underground . Or another possibility would be because of extreme weather .

Over time the space question has evolved , as world’s population has increased so fast and will expand even more . Where are we planning to set the future populations ? In this document . we can see how big cities are searching for the answer of this lack of space. In this example a big city like : Amsterdam that always had an overcrowding and street traffic problems , is resolving this by using a new construction technique . To find space to new developments , they have decided it is easier to build under the canals. This is an example of how a city can deal with space problems by resolving the issue and thinking for the next generations that will come as well . Building a city under the city is maybe the solution for the future .

The actual population taking each time more space is a serious issue that has to be resolved ,

But the lack of space is maybe not the only reason that could force us to live underground .

The air pollution is a known fact since the industrial revolution . But the consequences are often not remembered . As the London smug in 1952 , It was an air pollution event that was created by cold weather combined with cyclone and collected airborne pollutants ejected by the many industries in London and created a big smog over the city . The pollution in the air last several days and killed thousands of people. With our actual global environmental situation , and the fact that we dont reduce the pollution and we are
