Mythes and heroes

Intro:

Definition: a myth is a popular believe a faith or a false idea, a hero is someone who stands up against injustice and protects the most vulnerable people. It can be a real person or a totally fictional character.

I’m especially going to talk about M.L King.

Can we consider King as a hero?

Dvpt:

I/ presentation:

- DOB: 15/01/1929 in Atlanta, Georgia.

- He went to Boston University to study theology.

- 1955, he became a minister in Montgomery Alabama.

- He knew how bad blacks were treated and worked to help them with another minister and put his life and his family in danger he was stabbed, he was thrown in jail many times his house and church were bombed

Trans: one of the most known protests he participated in

II/protests:

-1955: “the Montgomery bus boycott” he organized it, it lasted 1 year, and people who participated in are called freedom walkers because they walked every day from home to work … to put pressure on the bus company to end segregation on buses

-1963: “the march on Washington for freedom and jobs” the most memorable march in the US history in which people demonstrated their support for an end of segregation and creation of jobs. M.L King pronounced his most famous speech “I have dream speech” in which he expressed the will of those protestants of a country without segregation it was a speech of hope, determination and a call to unit Americans and a way to force the government to do something about it and he says that they are ready to die for freedom.

-1968: “we shall overcome” speech in Memphis, Tennessee. In which he gave people hope and insisted on the fact that victory will be won sooner or later and that they will fight till death for freedom. It was his last speech and he were one of those who paid the price since he was assassinated just 4 days after.

Conclusion: from my point of view, M. King is a hero because he fought injustice till his last breath, he risked his life and he never gave up despite all the threats, the difficulties. And he even lost his life for freedom.
