~MYTHS AND HEROES~

We're going to deal with the notion myths and heroes. To begin with, I’d like to give a definition of the notion. Actually a myth is a popular belief on which social values are often based while a hero can be someone who is ready to sacrifice his or her life in order to make things evolve positively. In relation to the notion, the subject of my presentation will be the successful careers. Actually there's not a single definition of a career success, for some it may be the amount of money earned, but we can suppose th        at of the majority of employees is the possibility of having a positive work-life balance. So we may wonder to what extent myths and heroes influence people's careers.

We will consider in a first part the professional success and fame and in a second part we are  going to talk about ordinary people who became a hero and a model.

Nowadays, many are the people who asking themselves what kind of lives they want, there will have to make decisions about themselves, about their life.

In this way, through his cartoon, Edgar Argo makes us wonder about power and money, are they so important? Actually these two subjects are consistently present in our life especially for the youngsters who are going to choose what they want to do with there life. In fact if wealth and power are really important for them in this way they are going to have long studies to find a really ambitious job or on the contrary if what they want is just enjoy life how it comes and not worry if their life is successful or not.

As a matter of fact we can notice that some famous people influence their decision. The article “Oprah Winfrey's Influence in America” helps us to recount her path to celebrity. Actually this successful woman has become one of the most influential people in America especially because of her story which touched the entire world. Oprah Winfrey is a good example of the people who can have a big influence on us. Thus today she is famous throughout the world, she has a really difficult beginning especially because of her skin's color, but it didn't stop her.

In short, the ones who say that study is not for them could change their mind and tell themselves that they can succeed everything they want with a bit of determination. Maybe they are not going to be famous but they will have a success life and at the end power and money would be more important than what they expected.

On the other hand, the celebrities' struggle to be where they are today, they path to there, can have a really big influence on people. As a matter fact we can clearly see that many are the biggest celebrities who started from the very nadir with almost nothing and that's maybe what inspired us most. To illustrate these words we studied an article published in The New York Time by Randall Stross where we've got the presentation of two ingenious ans famous American inventors, Steve Jobs and Thomas Edison who respectively invented the phonograph and Apple computers. We learn in this text some similarities between the two men like there both had less formal schooling than most of their respective peers, which lead us to the fact that they are probably self made man. Actually Steve Jobs the former chief executive officer of Apple started from his garage where he grown and enlightened in order to become one of the biggest engineer. In other words, everyone got their chance in life we just have to grasp the opportunity open to us. This kind of man shows us that self-confidence and determination are the keys to success, and their history, their career path are really a source of inspiration and motivation which can have a big influence on our future. I think that maybe many engineers want to be a Steve Jobs or a Thomas Edison.
