Myths and hero

A myth is an old story which is told again and again so details may vary. Myths may be true or not and they are usually used to teach a lesson or to try to explain things which can’t be explained. There are different kinds of heroes. It can simply be the main character in a story, so fictional or real like firefighters, doctors. Heroes are said to be selfless, determined, brave and people look up to them, they are a source of inspiration. We can then ask ourselves How can an ordinary person make the world a better place. To answer my question, I'm going to present two characters considered as hero : Steve jobs and Alan Turing.

First of all, people have to believe in myths to give them motivation, as evidence by the myth of the « self made man ». in the USA, there was no class system unlike other european countries like Britain. It means that in the USA, if you came from a poor social background, you could climb the social ladder whereas in Britain the social mobility was limited.

 A salef-man is someone who is reasonably intelligent and hardworking. It is the case of Steve Jobs.

Steve Jobs was an orphan and he was adopted by a lower middle class family. He dropped out from school and he didn°t graduate from university. He had nothing to succeed, he starts from scratch. Steve Jobs revolutionised the world of computers with, Apple. Over the years he climbed the social ladder. He influenced people's lives with his achievements. Steve Jobs is considered like a hero because to make the top he was and hard-worker, career-driven with strong-willed. Today he remains a role model, an example of success.
