I’m going to talk about the idea of progress.

To begin with, i would like to state the definition of progress. The idea of progress basically consists in believing that the world can become better in terms of art, science technology liberty an quality of life. Human have always wanted to improve their lives. In relation to the notion the subject of my presentation would be the social’s evolution in particular with the woman evolution in our society. How the image of women has evolue in our society ( ou How did feminist movement from the end of the 19 centuries in the Uk contribute in improving the place of women in own modern society ?). Firstly Which progress for the women followed sufragettes actions in England ? and Secondly  We will see that  other  fights are also led nowadays  to obtain an equality between man and women.

1. Firstly the sufraggette movement allowed numerous progress for the women in Uk

During many years, women have been considered to be weaker than men. The women were generally considered as intelectually subordinates, even not being able to think by themselves. Thereby men dominated and women saw their conditions deteriorating. Indeed, some rights were refused to women as the right to vote considering that they hadn’t no (any) role has to play in choices and on the political scene. That’s why in 1987, Millicent Fawcett established National Union of Women Vote, followed by the creation in 1903 by pankhurst emmeline, of the Women’s social and political union WSPU who used ways more violent to obtain the right to vote.  The various fights led by these two major figu res of feminism and their group had a considerable importance in the evolution of women’s rights. Indeed, in 1918, british women who are more than 30 years old obtain right to vote and in 1928 the conditions of votes become the same for men and women.

Thus their is also a very good movie which call « Suffragette »  and which tell the history of women of the working class oppressed by her husbands, their bosses who haven’t got the right to formulate a personal opinion. They decide to fight to improve their conditions and to get the right to vote.

Beyond the right to vote  other fights were led always with the aim to evolue the place of the woman in the society.Thus the political and social fight joins to make things happen. In 1920-1930 appears a movement neo feminism which fighted for the right of the " property of her body "for the birth control, and  even for the abortion. Thanks to all of these movements, the british women obtain de right to abortion the 27th april 1968.

1. Nowadays feminist movements are considered as dusty, nevertherless,  it is useful to remind the fights led by previous generations had positive result about women’s conditions. Movements like, sufragettes, are the precursors of  fights led nowadays. They give hope to certain women that ,    change is possible when they make her voice heard.

Theirs fights were not vain since we can imagine that they inspired SIMONE VEIL and others with the abortion right. They left an inheritance and their fights are still topical. Indeed, even today in some countries, like arabie soiudite pakistan or India, it is almost impossible for little girls to go to school , yet women to vote or drive. From then on, we notice that the fights did’nt change but they moved towards new societies. In spite of the danger, a lot of women have become the symbol of hope as Malala Yousafzai, the 2014 Nobel Prize who has create a foundation to allow the girls of the whole world to reach has an education.
