Historique :

The World Trade Center is a ground around 7 hectares and is composed of seven business building at Lower Manhattan, in New York. It was done by architect Minoru Yamasaki.

The WTC is famous for his two building : the Twin Towers, it's the symbol of american power in the eyes of the world and is an icon of New York as the empire states building and the statue of the liberty. The twin towers are completely destroyed by two planes the september 11, 2001.

To 8:46 am, flight 11 american airlines crashes into the north tower. At 9:03 am, the flight 175 of the united airlines crashes in front of the south tower. The two towers collapsed to 10 am. The september 11 attacks caused the death of 2,750 people. There were 1,6 million tons of debris from the world trade center and about 40,000 people were needed to clean up the site and ending may 30, 2002.

memorial and museum

the « national september 11 memorial & museum » is a memorial and a museum in new york in memory of the victims of the attacks of september 11, 2001 against the towers of the world trade center.

The memorial consists of a square park with two ponds located on the site of two the two destroyed towers. Deep basins are 9 meters and is water flowing along the walls.

Works began on march 13, 2006 and was completed and opened to the public on september 11, 2011. The museum is located under the memorial and it should finally be completed in 2014.

In 2005 it had a dramatic disaster film, directed by oliver stone about the attacks of september 11, 2001.
