MICHAEL PHELPS

To my mind, Michael PHELPS is more than a champion, he's a hero but first of all he's a man. He's a swimmer and he practises the most difficult swimming method : butterfly stroke. He's the most medallisted man in Olympics with 28 medals and 22 before Rio. Among other he won 49 of his 63 events in Olympics. He retired in 2012 after the London OG.

For me, he's a hero because he never gave up when he had problems. For example, in april 2014 he decided to come back to competition. But in October 2014 he was arrested while driving under influence. So Phelps decided to take care of himself and he went to a private clinic in Arizona for 50 days. The American federation suspended him for 6 months. So he trained a lot from 2015 to august 2016. In the meantime, his son, Boomer was born on May 2016.

The thing who prove that he's revered was his nomination to be the flag bearer for the USA team at the opening ceremony of the OG. On 13 August he became the most medallisted man in the OG with 28 medals and his 23rd gold medal.

So finally, Michael Phelps is a hero because he had a long journey from nothing to his top level and he was always determined to give his best. He never gave up when he was in trouble. He worked very hard to keep his level on the roof of the world. That's why he's a role model.
