INTRODUCTION

As you already know, global warming is an increase in the average temperature on the surface of the Earth due to the pollution. The largest human influence has been the emission of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide.

One of the consequences is the facthe pack ice is shrinking. The surface of sea ice at the end of summer has declined very rapidly, from 8.5 million km2 during the period 1950-1975 to 5.5 million km2 in 2010

Renewable energies

Renewable energy is energy that is collected from renewable resources, which are naturally replenished on a human timescale, such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves, and geothermal heat.[2] Renewable energy often provides energy in four important areas: electricity generation, air and water heating/cooling, transportation, and rural (off-grid) energy services.

All these energies pollute less than the others like dam, nuclear…  so, they contribute to decrease climate changes

Renewable energies represent less than 5% of the final energy consumed in france.

The case of Thilos

Tilos, with a population of just 500, is playing a leading role in an award-winning European research project.

It is aiming to meet at least 75% of its energy needs with just renewables: solar and wind power. And scientist thinks that in 2019 it will be 100%

Every megawatt-hour of clean energy created by the TILOS system saves 640 kilos of CO2. That's about 1.5 kilo-tons per year

  • The problem of solar and wind energy is the fact that we can’t easily stock electricity.

But researchers build a polyvalent, resilient storage system for the power generated, which is heavily dependent on wind and sun availability.

Solar panels were installed a few kilometers from the wind farm. The energy produced at both sites is centralized in a hybrid station where this energy is stocked and then transported for use.

CONCLUSION

It’s important to fight against global warming, one of the solutions could be to produce green energy, but that will not be enough.

Today we are also developing:

  • sustainable buildings with wooden constructions, independent of energy.: tours Hyperion (57 mètres) et Silva (50 mètres)
  • electric vehicles like cars or trucks such. Recently Telsa has presented the prototype of autonomous trucks
