Angels devils and questions

Question 1 :

The title « Angel or Devil ? » is very strong because it represents a question we often ask ourselves about people. It highlights this mysterious aspect that a person can bring out. Is this person good or bad? Who doesn't already wonder!  However, it is good to know that the notion of goodness or badness is quite subjective, because everyone is someone else's good or bad. Moreover, in fairy tales, the bad is framed by the values and norms of a given society, for example, the role of the witch is typified that is to say that it meets standards. Thus, we don't wonder if the witch can be considered "good" for another person because she is immediately categorized as bad.

Question 3 : Document B  trailer : « House of Card »

1- In the trailer, the character of Claire appears to be a thin blonde woman, always dressed in long dark clothes, her personality looks very strong and she seems determined not to lose the power she holds over the country. Her gaze is cold and her determination is terrifying because she seems to stop at nothing, as she says "it is up to each of us to ensure our destiny", and she surely leaves nothing to chance. I think that her character can be as smooth as she is violent, as long as she has what she wants.

2- Compared to the other women, Clare is always dressed in dark clothing, while the others are always dressed in light clothing (white, purple...). Moreover, she stands out because the other women seem more terrified than Claire about what is going to happen.

3- As evidence of the superiority of women over men:

1) Talking to the assembly

The only one we see talking to the assembly is Claire, a woman.

2) Sex as a means of control

The fact that women openly relate to each other because they have had sex with each other's men, as if it were a way of controlling men.

3) Claire's determination

This shows that she won't let herself be fooled. In the end a man asks « who did you fear the most? » and the gentleman answers « she », probably referring to Claire. but by this « she » wouldn't that be basically a generalization and thus proof that men are afraid of women?

4- Claire's goal is to stay in control of the country and she's not going to let that happen. We can see her determination throughout the trailer and the fact that she is ready for anything. Notably by what she says « I will no longer let myself be dictated to by you or any other man ». But also by the terrifying music she uses, the sly smiles she throws and the violence she shows at the end of the trailer. We can suppose that her determination will have no limit even if she has to do awful things, like killing.

Question 4 : Document C

1- The elements that represent evil are:

Firstly, the fact that the female character is dressed in black and red, two dark colors that are most often attributed to evil characters. In addition, we can see a demon tail attached to the characters. In addition, there is the writing « The devil wears prada ».

2- We can see that the colors used for this book cover are red and two of these complementary colors: purple and orange. These very feminine colors are most often attributed to the character of the villain, because they give pep and at the same time a mysterious side.
