Australia is the sixth biggest country in the world, it is the only country to also be a continent! This very large country is twice as big as Europe! Almost 25 million people live in Australia.

The capital of Australia is Canberra but the most populated city is Sydney, they are both situated in the east.

Australia was a British colony which is why they speak English there. 53 former colonies formed the British Commonwealth and Australia is still a part of it, which is why the Union Jack is the main part of the Australian flag.

The currency used is the Australian dollar, we can see the Queen on it. She is the head of state.

Australia is famous for different things; its coast and beaches, its cities, its mammals and birds, its nature and wildlife.

Tourists love to visit the Sydney Opera House and travel to the ancient mountain Uluru in the centre of Australia.
Outdoor activities are very popular in Australia, you can go hiking, bungee jumping, surfing, diving and lots more.

There are lots of famous Australians, especially actors. Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidman and Cate Blanchett, to name a few.

The Prime Minister is Scott Morrison, he’s not very popular since the dramatic wild fires which have destroyed the flora and fauna of much of this enormous country.

Australia does not have an effective environmental policy and global warming is a growing problem.

I chose to speak about Australia because I’m very attracted to this country and dream of visiting it one day to discover it with my own eyes. I enjoy learning English and a trip to Australia would help me to speak more fluently.
