The notion I’m going to deal with is Places and forms of power. The notion of power generally implies a basic division between those who have and exercise power and those who have none or little of it.

The Republic of India is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh-largest country by area, the second-most populous country with over 1.2 billion people, and the most populous democracy in the world. However, are all citizens an equal footing in modern-day India?

First, there is in India a system of castes and this creates differences between people. In addition to the basic castes, there is an outcaste called the Untouchables or Dalits, who are not considered part of human society. There are approximately 250 million Dalits in India and they perform the most menial and degrading jobs. They are persecuted, suffer physical and psychological violence, and are humiliated...

Secondly, the condition of Indian women is still considered one of the toughest in the world. Thousands of women are killed because their dowries are inadequate for a wedding, Girls are murdered, or they are forced to marry. There is a great discrimination against women who do not have the same status as the man in Indian society. (India’s girls go missing)

Finally, there are in India high-tech cities like Bangalore, became a very important scientific, economic and university center. This town is considered like the "silicon valley" of India. But all Indians don't take advantage of these advances (high-tech cities). However, we also saw the emergence of new things such as micro-credit, and Indians are using microfinance to extricate themselves and their families from poverty. So there are some things that are trying to restore Equality between Indian citizens

To conclude, we can say that in India, People are not on an equal footing, however we see that changes occur, and things change slowly.
