To summarize, one of the best example of B2C marketing strategies is Sephora, a luxury cosmetics retailer at the forefront of the industry. She has an extremely effective membership program known as “beauty insider”. This program is separated into 3 different member levels: beauty insider, VIB and red VIB putting in place certain thresholds determined by annual spending to increase membership status. Given the products offered by red VIB, consumers are encouraged to spend more to cross the price threshold.

  1. The products for sale are “cooking fire, heating fire and lighting fire”.
  1. The difference between the three products is the way you use the fire. “Cooking fire” is use for the meal, “heating fire” is use for warm up, and “lighting fire” is use for the night.

 

  1. The consumers appreciate how they diversify their products.

  1. This way of selling reveals the way in which companies trick customers into buying “so-called new products”.

  1. It reveals that consumers do not pay attention to the characteristics of the products but to the prices at which they are sold.
  1. This cartoon or caricature makes fun of consumers who have no idea of the strategies implemented by companies to attract them to buy the products in question.
