1) Introduction

A GMO is an organism whose genetic material has been alterned using genetic

engineering techniques.

These techniques, generally known as recombinant DNA technology.

For example, we introduce short sequence of gene from Bacillus thurigiensis in

a plant. This plant will can protect themselves from insect without any external

synthetic pecticide spray. Because BT genes in plant express a protein that kills

insects.

2) GM vs cloning

Introduce new genes into an organism that means this organism become

different from its parent genes. This generation modified transmit genes to its

offspring.

For example, the gm salmon reaches maturity in half the time of wild salmon,

the gm salmon will pass genes of growth hormone to his offspring.

While cloning is the creation of an exact copy of an organism.

This means that DNA cloned organism is the same as the original.
