Project Ireland:

The capital of the republic of Ireland since the middle age is Dublin. This city is in the east of the country, near the Liffey River and in the centre of County Dublin. It does 114, 99 km² of surface and has got 1,122,821 habitants and its population density is of 4,588 persons per km² .Dublin’s official languages are the Irish and the English. Its climate is a maritime climate between eight and twenty degrees during the year. There are so many festivals in the Irish capital, like the Bloomsday, the Dublin Fringe Festival, the Dublin’s Irish writer’s festival or Saint Patrick’s Day, that is the most important festival and it is known all around the world. This celebration is in March and takes five days; the Irish people celebrate the saint of their patron saint. A part of the festivals, the city has got a very important and big literary culture with so many important writers.

One of the most important Irish authors is Oscar Wilde. Oscar Wilde, who was born in 1854 in Dublin and died in 1900 in France, wrote short stories; poems; theater plays, like The importance of being Earnest , and only one novel, the picture of Dorian Gray. In 1878, he won the Newdigate Price for his poem, Ravenna.

In the present-day, one famous Irish person is Bono. This musician, who was born in Dublin in 1960, is known as the leader and the singer of the rock group U2. He also is a political activist and has won the Peace Nobel Prize in 2005 and 2006 for his work in poor countries.
