The abolition of slavery in the USA, following the American civil war in 1865, by the proclamation of emancipation by Lincoln could mark the end of inequality between the black and the white population. But this event will only mark the beginning of a long period (about first) of segregation and discrimination against the black population, mainly in the South of the USA. In the years 1950-1960, the black population began to carry out actions for equality between Americans, including major characters like MLK. At that time, the art is very varied in the USA but can be considered a powerful weapon? This is what we'll cover through two symbolic examples..

Black Americans were suffering from a constant moral violence. This evidence is sometimes difficult to define, identify, but also to represent.

This violence through verbal abuse, derogatory comments, harassment that demean victims on them even.

We can find the representation of these threats in the table "The problem we all live with" of Norman Rockewell. It depicts a young girl named Ruby Bridges. This scene is located during the process of racial desegregation. The table shows abuse but also the protection of fourths assistants of the Marshal. This girl is the first black child to attend the white school in New Orleans. Crushed tomato, racist insult "Nigger" as well as the presence of the three letters "KKK" of the "Ku Kulx Klan", group that abuses blacks, are all signs which may be more prevalent than physical violence moral violence in this work...

Maya angelou is a black writer, she published seven autobiographical books, most famously "i Know why the caged birds sings".Her works have been considered as a defense of Black culture. Angelou uses her autobiography to explore subjects such as rape And racism principally. Angelou's description of being raped as an eight-year-old child overwhelms the book, even if it is presented briefly in the text. Rape is used as a metaphor for the suffering of his race. An another metaphor, a bird struggling to escape its cage, is a central image throughout the work, which consists in a sequence of lessons about resisting racist oppression". The treatment of Angelou's racism provides the thematic unit of the book. The books become her refuge as she works through her trauma. We can say that racial prejudice has an influence on the victim because when her book had been published, she didn't use her real name lest she be discriminated, her lack confidence in the society is felt here... She was afraid to show her real personality .

We conclude that art is a weapon used for the denonciation. Indeed, through paintings or books, we were able to discover the daily lives of blacks during segregation and the violence of the white population as physical aggression such as rape or a racist insult..
