~Missouri Became the 24th State of American the August 10, 1821. This is located at West of Mississipi River. Missouri is bordered by Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska.

The capital is Jefferson City. It’s the fifteenth most populous city in the state. Jefferson City is named for Thomas Jefferson, the third president of the United States. She is surname "Show Me State". There are a number of stories and legends behind nickname Missouri's.

There are 6,1 millions of inhabitants. The Missouri is ranked 21st for areas and 18th for population.

~This is the flag of Missouri. The Colors are Red, White and Blue and the center of the flag contains a seal. The Great Seal of the State of Missouri was adopted on January 11, 1822. The center of the seal contains the Great Seal of the United States on the right side, and, on the left, symbols representing the state. On both sides of the center circle, a bear represents strength and bravery; a crescent moon represents the newness of statehood and the potential for growth. Missouri's state motto is Salus Populi Suprema Lex Esto, Latin for "The welfare of the people shall be the supreme law". The word is displayed on Missouri's state seal.

The Lewis and Clark Expedition began in 1804, when President Thomas Jefferson tasked Meriwether Lewis with exploring lands west of the Mississippi River that comprised the Louisiana Purchase. Lewis chose William Clark as his co-leader for the mission. The excursion lasted over two years: Along the way they confronted harsh weather, unforgiving terrain, injuries, starvation, disease and both friendly and hostile Native Americans. Nevertheless, the approximately 8,000-mile journey was deemed a huge success and provided new geographic, ecological and social information about previously uncharted areas of North America.
