The Presidential Commission on the assassination of President Kennedy, known as the Warren Commission is a U.S. presidential commission created by a decree of President Lyndon Johnson from 29 November 1963 to investigate the circumstances of the assassination of President Kennedy intervened 7 days earlier.

The Committee takes its unofficial name of its chairman, Earl Warren , then president of the Supreme Court of the United States.

Its final report of 888 pages was presented to President Johnson September 24, 1964 and was released three days later. It concluded that Lee Harvey Oswald had acted alone in the assassination of President Kennedy and the wounding of Texas Governor John Connally . Upon publication , the findings of this report have lent strong controversies , the work of the commission was criticized point by point by some subsequent studies and confirmed by others. The U.S. government has he lied to his people and the entire world in order to protect the national interest ?On 3 March 1962, at the age of 40, was elected Attorney Jim Garrison in New Orleans for his first term.

During the summer of 1966, following a conversation he had with Senator Russell Long son of Huey P. Long, Garrison began secretly investigating the assassination of President Kennedy as the code "the Smith Case".
