Today, we see girls holding Louis Vuitton handbags costing around 1000$ or 2000 $ or boys wearing feather jackets of 300 to 400$, fur coats or wool pullovers. Everybody knows where the fur, leather, feather and wool come from.

I have always been interested in animals and followed the news about them, and I have made a lot of research to discover more about the animals killed for their skin.

Killing animals for their skin is an important issue; that’s why clothing industries and the government should step in to solve this issue.

In the next few minutes, you will discover that killing animals is a dangerous issue first because it makes them suffer and second because it causes an ecological unbalance; therefore, measures should be taken to put an end to this problem.

Transition: Now, let’s discover the different aspects of the problem.

Killing animals for their skin is a serious issue.

*First, animals feel pain. They are either bred or trapped. When they are bred, they are generally locked up in cages that are so narrow that they keep turning around until they go mad and get hurt.

And when they are trapped, either they die because of hemorrhage caused by their dough they keep biting to get released or because of slow death added to stress, fear and pain . 50 millions of beats are killed each year, trapped and bred with cruelty and approximately 3.5 million raccoons, coyotes, bobcats, lynxes, opossums, beavers, otters, and others are killed each year for their fur by trappers in the U.S.

*Animals are threatened by extinction, which endangers the environmental bio-diversity. There are animals that have been hunted for their skin and that have become endangered species.

Woolly mammoths, The last of the Great Woolly Mammoth populations vanished near the end of the last Ice Age over 4,000 years ago. They were hunted for meat and fur.

Caspian tigers were first put on the endangered species list in the 1960’s, but trophy hunting and fur trade has continued despite the heightened risk of extinction.

polar bears : the Excessive hunting for their precious hides, meat, fat and flesh have also helped significantly reduce their numbers,

American crocodiles Humans have long hunted crocodiles for their valuable skins used to make shoes, belts, bags and more. From the 1950s to the late 1960s,

dodos

Mediterranean monks

Species depend on each others, therefore, the extinction of some of them causes harms to the entire eco system and especially to the food chain And because Humans rely on ecosystems to provide food and natural resources., the extinction can lead to dangerous consequences for the humanity.

----------After realizing how dangerous killing animal could be, there are many ways to limit the number of animals killed.

Solving the problem requires from the clothing industries to use other sources of clothing and from the government to set quotas and laws to limit the hunt of animals.

*Synthetic fur is a good solution to decrease the number of animals killed.
