Analyse of YouTube

YouTube is a Google video platform created in 2005 by Steve Chen, Chad Hurley and Jawed Karim and acquired in 2006 by Google for $ 1.6 billion. YouTube is a platform halfway between a content hosting site, a social network and a search engine. The broadcast content is only in video format. YouTube is the second most popular social network in the world after Facebook, with 79% of internet users claiming to have an account on the platform. There are approximately 2 billion users who use YouTube every month worldwide and several billion views per day

On YouTube, users can:

- stream videos by creating a YouTube channel

- search for a specific type of video or channel by typing keywords in the search bar

- evaluate videos thanks to the known interaction buttons: the "like" ("I like"), the comment, the sharing (on other social networks) and the "dislike" ("I don't like" )

subscribe to YouTube channels

Due to its ease of access, a large number of Internet users use the platform to post videos. Thus, coexist:

individuals: who wish to share personal moments of life

professionals: who use YouTube to distribute their branded content (presentation of their universe, customer testimonials, advice and tutorials, transcription of an event, etc.).

As soon as we arrive on the site the name is well notified at the top left. We are aware of the site's activity since its logo refers to the audiovisual world and the only content visible on the site are videos. From the home page we are offered several videos so the company's activity is clearly identified.

The target of the company is the entire population since we find diverse and varied content on the platform, there is something for all tastes (kitchens, video games, sport, science, etc.). To be more precise, all people with internet access are targets targeted by Youtube.

Regarding navigation on the site we see that the company makes navigation as easy as possible. The site has a design that can appeal to people of all ages since they have a design on a white background called "day mode" and a design on a black background called "night mode". The home page brings together the key elements of a website and a social network, including the brand's lodge, a search bar, a connections tab and video recommendations to watch.
