To what extent has Mandela's Rainbow Nation achieved its goal ?
Intro :
South Africa was under the apartheid for nearly 50 years. The apartheid regime ruled all his population blacks, colored, whites and divide this population with the racial segregation with group areas acts, separate amenities acts. It was a regime with an uncommon violence against non-whites people ans only the minority of white were truly free. But this is when Nelson Mandela ’s ideas and actions came to a reality when he was elected in 1994 the first black president of south Africa. During his 27 years imprisoned, he developed his minds and will for the future of south Africa. That what he calls his country the rainbow nation, a nation without oppression and that grant the freedom of all the people of South Africa
I- The success of his rainbow nation
-1st we can say yes because with the help of Mandela and DeKlerk , all the people of south africa have got the right to vote → citizens
-He created with Desmond tutu the Truth and reconciliation commission
→ Goal → to inventory all human rights crimes and began to reconcile those who were oppressed and the oppressors.
- We can use the film Invictus to illustrate one way that he used to create a community spirit between Blacks and whites ( explain football =/ rugby =/ cultures). Mandela wearing Piennar shirt an afrikanner.
