        The Bahamas, known officially as the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, is an archipelagic state within the Lucayan Archipelago. It consists of more than 700 islands in the Atlantic Ocean and is located north of Cuba, Haiti and the Dominican Republic; northwest of the Turks and Caicos Islands; southeast of the US state of Florida and east of the Florida Keys. Its inhabitants are the Bahamians.The capital is Nassau on the island of New Providence.

        The Junkanoo festival is the most common street carnival in the Bahamas. The Bahamas are English-speaking. Its landscapes are mainly composed of large beach because they are islands. The islands are rather flat with a tropical climate as well as its vegetation which is essentially made of palm tree, cactus and tropical flower. Temperatures range from twenty-five to thirty degrees throughout the year with precipitation occurring in the evening or at night.

        The Culinary specialties are Guava, coconut, mango, passion fruit, sour apple, mango, Eleuthera pineapple, small and sweet. The rock lobster is a thorny variety, without pliers, which is served grilled, minced or in salad. The food is largely marine with lots of fish.

        Eleven lighthouses of the Bahamas are registered as World Heritage Sites.

New Providence is the most populous island in the Bahamas, containing more than 70% of the total population. It is the location of the national capital city of Nassau.

Nassau is the capital, largest city, and commercial centre of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.
