Location and Forms of Power

I will introduce the concept of Location and Forms of Power. First of all, I would like to give you the definition of power. There are different types of powers: political power, economic power, military power, but here we will talk about the power of guns. Power: Power is the capacity of someone to influence or exercice control on someone else or on people. We can then reflect on the following problem: What is the impact of weapons on the American population?

In America there are 357,000,000 guns for every 317,000 people. Firearms are as if rooted in American history. But according to American laws, weapons are allowed. Creating December 15, 1791, it is the second amendment of the constitution of the United States that authorizes this. However, citizens may be injured with their own weapons, as this first document shows. This document is a photograph taken by Zed Nelson which is a photograph of Gun Nation. This photograph shows the damage of weapons in America. You see a man: Gardy v. Hinton standing his left leg amputated. In fact Grady testifies and explains to us that he shot himself cleaning his gun thinking it was not loaded. Today he lives with a brain disability and an amputated leg. This document illustrates the power of weapons because Grady injured himself with his weapon but 357,000 other weapons are in circulation in the United States. Thanks to Zed Nelson, the observer can ask himself the right questions about the carrying of weapons and the damage they can do.

The second document is a video called Join the NRA. The NRA is the National Rifle Association. It’s a video designed to promote the NRA and has encouraged people to be part of it. The NRA is a lobby: A group of people committed to trying to influence people to lobby legislation or officials in favor of a specific cause. In this video we see a lot of visual tactics to encompass the spectator as the soldiers who represent the protection, the flags that represent the nation, the families, the women who need weapons to be stronger. The NRA Meeting strongly resembles presidential meetings with arguments such as: We live in dangerous world, safety , or even fight for freedom. I disapprove of this method because the NRA shows only the bad sides of gold weapons most often weapons are involved in killings and settling accounts.

The last document is 3 magazine covers about 3 school shootings. Columbine High school, Virginia Tech and Sandy Hook. I decided to put these three blankets together because he looks a lot alike. Indeed these 3 covers illustrated by the photos of the victims of the shootings. There were 13 deaths, 24 injuries in April 1999 for Columbine High School, 32 deaths, 25 injuries in April 2009 for Virginia Tech and 27 deaths including 20 children aged 5 to 7 in December 2012 for Sandy Hook. These 3 covers are composed in the same way with the faces of each of the victims. Covers are directly related to the concept because they illustrate the power of weapons and the dangers of weapons when they are in the wrong hands. I approve of these blankets because they can create a shock for parents or any observer. By using photos of victims questions arise for the observer and the latter can become reticent about the dangers of weapons.

To conclude, the power of arms in the United States can be beneficial in order
