Welcome to the module

As you can see from the aims and outcomes above, this module is all about you.

By the end of the module you will have created your own reflective portfolio to demonstrate your achievement of the module learning outcomes in the context of your work placement experiences.

Importantly too, the stress on taking responsibility for your own development in the aims and learning outcomes is reflected in the way the module works. It operates electronically and you are expected to create your portfolio over the coming weeks on your individual blog accessed through the module pages on Blackboard.

PLEASE NOTE: You will be expected to use your blog to create the portfolio that will be assessed. Access your blog by clicking on the Portfolio Blog button on the Blackboard module pages. It will be your responsibility to email the module leader/tutor to view your blog in order for you to gain advice and feedback about your work in progress.

The learning resources in the module Study Materials section on Blackboard provide you with guidance on reflection and on ways of planning for and reviewing your learning:

Compare and contrast your placement experiences in the light of your understanding of these factors.

Descriptions of, and reflections on, the effect (impact) of the culture and physical aspects of the workplace on you and your personal ‘world view’ (personality, national culture and experience) and the effect (impact) you, as an individual, have on the organisation, its culture, and the individuals you work with. Distinguish between colleagues and managers. Issues such as diversity, equality and equity should feature. Compare and contrast your placement experiences in the light of, or through, these reflections.
