TEXT :

In the the north of Europe ;to the north-west of France,lie two large islands and other two smaller ones.The whole makes up the British Isles.

The largest island is Great Britain with England in the South, Scotland in the North and Wels,in the West .The second largest island is called Ireland.It is smaller than Great Britain and is divided into two countries :Northen Ireland(Ulster) and Southern Ireland(Eire) . Ulster and Great Britain form the United Kingdom but Eire is independent.

The United Kingdom extends over an area of two hundred forty –four thousands and four square kilomiters.It i has a population of sixsty million inhabitants.

Each of the four countries of the United Kingdom has its own capital city . London is the capital of England and of the U. K .at the same time .Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland ,Cardiff that of Belfast of Northen Irelend .The official Language in the British Isles and the United Kingdom is English.
