We must first of all recall what the Idlib region represents in the context of the Syrian civil war. With each military defeat of the jihadists, and after negotiation, a part of them were sent to the province of Idlib. These successive arrivals caused a concentration of jihadist forces which inevitably posed a problem. "

The inability of the Turks to disarm the jihadists has led Russian aircraft and Syrian artillery to resume operations in the region, allowing troops of the Syrian regime to gain ground.

Some observation posts deployed by Turkey, which theoretically allowed the de-escalation to take place, were bombed by Syrian artillery. It was predictable.

 

Nearly 3M of civilians are today wedged between the Syrian army which continues to advance in the region and the Turkish-Syrian border separated by a wall with in the midst of the jihadists in deplorable conditions. Nobody wants this population, which has already been displaced many times. It does not want to come back under the control of the Syrian army and the Turks do not want it. It is therefore millions of Syrians who find themselves "stockpiled" in a kind of new Gaza Strip.

The Turks see, with legitimate concern, the prospect of an influx of Syrian refugees into their territory. "Erdogan This would be the open door for a new mass migration to Europe.

Originally, it was an attempt to manage the concentration of jihadist forces mentioned above. But the blasts endured by Turkey and caused by the Syrian army and its allies made the situation escalate. This has increased tensions and led to the massive displacement of populations.
