Introduction:

The devil wears Prada is a comedy-drama movie based on a novel of the same name, released in 2006. That movie showcase Anne Hathaway as Andrea Sacks, and Meril Streep as Miranda Priestly First I am going to compare the 2 main protagonist of the film, though the way they are depicted and then, I will talk about Andrea’s job interview with Miranda.

Description of the two main protagonist:

Andrea Sacks, the main character we follow during the movie is a young bright lady who has just graduated from college. She’s interested in journalism and writing, and wants to work for Runway a famous industry magazine about fashion. But there is a problem, Andrea knows nothing about fashion, she has no sense of fashion contrary to Miranda the Devil in the movie. Miranda is the editor in chief of Runway, she likes when everything is in order and wants everybody to listen when she speaks. She’s very haughty with her employee, for example with Emilie her first assistant with whom she is very rude, she wants to be understood and obeyed even if she does nothing to be clear and to be understood in fact. Andrea is the exact opposite of Miranda, when Andrea is nice and gentle with no sense of fashion because of her clothes which are just horrible and without brand-name. Miranda is sophisticated, cold and only wears branded clothes, like her Prada handbag she holds at the beginning of the movie. Miranda’s physical appearance reminds us of Cruela Devil: her haircut, her black fur-coat, the way she moves or sometimes speaks.

Andrea does not seem to be afraid of this frightening woman, maybe because before the interview she didn’t know her…Miranda is like the queen of the bees in a beehive, scornful with everybody, not everybody in fact. She can be something “gentle” with people who belong to the high fashion industry, because she belong to this rank too, but Andrea belong to the middle class
